I love my kids and they love me. That doesn’t mean any of us think the other is perfect but it doesn’t matter because we all embrace the ‘whole package’ – warts and all. So, here’s a thought. All of us, including our kids, have our own personalities and choices. If you’re caught in the trap of needing your children to be as close to perfect as possible so others will know you’re a good mom – have fun! You’ll forever be dealing with feeling inadequate and frustrated! Instead, work toward focusing on loving, enjoying, and guiding your children and then let them be themselves. That’s the best way I know to establish meaningful relationships for years to come.
