It’s Easter weekend and this time of year I think more seriously about the death and resurrection of Christ and what He did for us. I reflect on the meaning of redemption and the number of times God’s loving hand has rescued me from bad decisions, difficult times, or temptation generously made possible by the Evil One. I am also grateful for the consequences He’s allowed me to experience which He used to teach and mold me into a better person today than I was last year and the year before. I feel a sense of hope and excitement about new beginnings and what God has in store for the future. His grace truly is sufficient and His love is longsuffering and endless. God Bless.

I hate bathing suits!
Summer is coming – white pants and bathing suits. The white pants are okay, but the bathing suit is a problem. How about the 3-way mirrors when you try them on – ugh! Most of us regret that we don’t look like we did when we were twenty. Think about it though. How many times do you see someone you know and say to yourself, “Wow. They don’t look like they did when they were twenty.” Of course we don’t. We don’t even care! So, why do we do this to ourselves. Every gray hair, smile line, etc. have been earned! Besides, ten years from now we’ll wish we were back here!
The ‘perfect’ mom – not!
I love my kids and they love me. That doesn’t mean any of us think the other is perfect but it doesn’t matter because we all embrace the ‘whole package’ – warts and all. So, here’s a thought. All of us, including our kids, have our own personalities and choices. If you’re caught in the trap of needing your children to be as close to perfect as possible so others will know you’re a good mom – have fun! You’ll forever be dealing with feeling inadequate and frustrated! Instead, work toward focusing on loving, enjoying, and guiding your children and then let them be themselves. That’s the best way I know to establish meaningful relationships for years to come.
Smile Though Your Heart Is Breaking
Remember the song – ‘Smile Though Your Heart Is Breaking’? Well, sometimes there’s nothing better than a good cry or a brief indulgence in self-pity. After that, though, it is time to put on a smile even if you have to ‘fake it till you make it’; otherwise, we are vulnerable to letting our emotions run our lives. Stay strong!
New Beginnings
I love the idea that every day is new, that the seasons bring a change, and that there are second chances. When we get in a rut, making even the smallest change can put us on a new path. Life is short – seize the day!
Time
Today I was thinking about how fast life goes and wondering why I have and continue to invest my energy and emotion in things that don’t matter that much. I guess we all do it. I’m going to commit to remembering to not major in the minors.
Fear Not!
“Fear not” is the most often uttered command in Scripture. God knows that we are fearful people. While that’s true, we don’t want to give fear more attention than it deserves. Fear should be nothing more than a tap on the shoulder to get our attention. Once we’ve determined what we need to be cautious about, we want to move forward with what God has called us to do. Be careful not to allow Satan to use fear to hold you captive! Fear not!
Ladies, be encouraged! Life can be good! In the midst of all you’re doing, don’t forget to take care of yourself! Take a walk, sit a spell, call a friend. Remember that God has a plan for your life, for good and to prosper. Have a good day.
